Budanov proposed a way to protect Ukraine from Telegram.
Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov called the messenger Telegram a threat to the national security of the country.
He stated this in an interview with "Radio Khartia".
Budanov claims that Telegram has become the main source of information for Ukrainian society, surpassing all other platforms. This is confirmed by research conducted by the Main Directorate of Intelligence.
He does not propose to completely shut down the messenger, acknowledging that it is technically challenging but possible. Instead, he suggests "officializing" all Telegram channels. Budanov believes that anyone who wants to disseminate news through Telegram should register.
"If you want to broadcast some news - please, register so that everyone understands that this is a channel of a citizen of the Russian Federation or a citizen of Ukraine. And then he bears responsibility," he said.
Budanov also noted that blocking Telegram is technically more difficult than social networks "Odnoklassniki" and "VKontakte", but still possible.
Interestingly, unlike Telegram, Budanov called the social network Twitter harmless.
Recall, it was previously reported that Kremlin agents have become active in Poland's Instagram.
