Little Sasha has been discharged from the Lutsk hospital after complex treatment

After complex treatment, baby Sasha, who was born at 24 weeks weighing 900 grams and measuring 34 cm, has been discharged from the Lutsk hospital. This was reported by the Volyn Regional Medical Association for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood.

Sasha was born on October 31, 2024, by cesarean section due to premature placental abruption. His mother, Yuliya Kosynets, reported that this is already her seventh child and she is facing such a difficult situation for the first Time. After the cesarean section in Manevychi, the medical team from the perinatal center delivered the boy to Lutsk.

'Here, he was saved and cared for, and now Sasha weighs 2760 grams. He is active, eating, and gaining weight. Our whole family is very grateful to the doctors and medical staff for saving our son. At home, two brothers and four sisters are waiting for his arrival,' said the baby's mother.

Head of the Neonatal Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department, Oleksandr Popazohlo, emphasized that the boy's treatment was complex and prolonged.

“The child was transported on artificial ventilation in a very serious condition. There was a prolonged and complicated intensive therapy involving a neurosurgeon, neurologist, and ophthalmologist,” said the medic.

According to him, Sasha spent 64 days in the Neonatal Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department, 62 of which he was on respiratory support. In total, this equals 1492 hours on the artificial ventilation machine, using high-precision nasal cannulas.

For almost a month, starting from January 2, the boy continued treatment with his mother in the neonatology department. 'Sasha is our hero,' said Irina Horavska, General Director of the Volyn Regional Medical Association for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood, during the ceremony.

Neonatologist Olena Melnychuk noted that the baby's treatment is not yet finished. Doctors will monitor his health and development for the next three years in the follow-up observation department. This is mandatory for all prematurely born children.

Recall that the team of doctors at 'Okhmatdyt' in Lviv managed to save 3-year-old Viktoriya, who was in a very severe condition due to pneumothorax and pneumonia.

The child's family is from Lviv. The illness started with a prolonged fever. Viktoriya was weak, wanted to sleep constantly. The pediatrician examined the child and prescribed medication. However, the child's condition did not improve: cough appeared, the girl complained of chest pain, cried, and slept a lot.

Parents' fear caused another visit to the doctors. After examination, specialists found fluid in the lungs and referred the child to the Lviv Center.
