BYD sets new speed record for electric vehicles: 472 km/h.
According to Korrespondent.net: The Chinese car manufacturer BYD has announced a new world speed record for electric vehicles, reports Carscoops. The hypercar Yangwang U9 Track Edition reached a speed of 472.41 km/h at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg circuit in Germany, surpassing the previous record held by Croatia's Rimac Nevera R, which recorded a result of 431.45 km/h in July this year.
Record Details
The record attempt took place on August 8th, with professional driver Marc Baseng at the wheel, known for his success in endurance racing. It is noteworthy that last year he set a speed record in a standard Yangwang U9, reaching a mark of 391.94 km/h.
Technical Specifications
The Yangwang U9 Track Edition was presented only two weeks ago. The total power of the car is over 2960 hp, with a power-to-weight ratio of 1200 hp per ton. In comparison, the Rimac Nevera R has a power of 1989 hp and a ratio of 978 hp per ton.
