Due to the war and accidents, 508 settlements in Ukraine remain without electricity.
As of October 5, more than 500 settlements in various regions of Ukraine remain without electricity for various reasons. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
In the past day, energy workers restored power for 17,441 consumers who were disconnected due to hostilities and technical violations. By morning, 508 settlements remain partially or fully without power due to hostilities and technical issues, the statement says.
It is reported that due to enemy shelling the previous day, to avoid network overload, the transmission system operator implemented emergency shutdowns in parts of Sumy and Poltava regions.
According to the Ministry of Energy, due to shelling and hostilities, there were power outages in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions in the last day.
In the Kharkiv region, due to the fall of a drone, several overhead lines were simultaneously disconnected, but the electricity supply to consumers was not interrupted.
In the Donetsk region, shelling resulted in the disconnection of substations, household consumers, and the railway, which temporarily halted train operations.
Moreover, in the Vinnytsia region, technical problems led to the disconnection of substations and household consumers, but electricity supply has now been restored.
In the Zhytomyr region, technical failures led to the disconnection of a substation, household consumers, and the railway, although train movement was not disrupted. Power was restored through a backup scheme.
In the Kirovohrad region, during a check of the power line, equipment theft was discovered, and it was reported to the police.
It is recalled that earlier it was reported that the G7 countries and other partners have collected over $4 billion since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion for the restoration of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Complex electricity situation in Ukraine
Due to shelling by Russia, as well as accidents and natural disasters, electricity is often cut off in Ukraine. DTEK technicians are actively working to repair damaged power grids and report on their work.
It also became known that the situation in Ukraine's energy system worsened even further after the latest enemy shelling. Because of this, power outages in the fall and winter of 2024 will be similar to those recorded in July.
