Border Crossing Delays in Ukraine on March 20: Which Checkpoints Are Blocked.
Current Border Situation in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: On March 20, long lines were reported at several border checkpoints in Ukraine, particularly along the borders with Poland and Slovakia. Here is a breakdown of the queues at the Polish border:
- At the 'Yahodyn' checkpoint, three buses are waiting;
- 'Ustyluh' has 30 cars lined up;
- 'Krakovets' reports 10 cars;
- 'Shehyni' shows 30 cars.
On the Slovak border, the 'Uzhhorod' checkpoint has a queue of eight cars. Meanwhile, the borders with Hungary, Romania, and Moldova remain calm, with all checkpoints in those directions reporting zero passenger vehicles.
Entry Requirements for Ukraine
Additionally, foreign nationals entering Ukraine must prove they have funds equivalent to 20 times the subsistence minimum. Ukrainian citizens, on the other hand, can carry up to €10,000 in cash without needing to declare the source of the money.
Overall, the situation at Ukraine's borders remains under control, with delays at some crossings while others have no traffic at all.
As of March 2023, given the ongoing border queues, it is clear that Ukrainian authorities continue to prioritize strict entry and exit controls, especially in light of economic security concerns. The requirements for foreigners to prove financial solvency and the limits on cash transport for Ukrainians reflect efforts to maintain border stability and curb illicit financial flows.
