Ukrainian Border Crossings See Minimal Queues, Only 10 Cars at Hungarian Crossing.
Current Situation at Ukraine's Borders
According to Novyny.live: As of January 25, 2023, border crossing queues have nearly vanished at all Ukrainian checkpoints, with the sole exception of the Hungarian border where a line of 10 passenger cars was recorded. This marks a significant reduction in congestion compared to the severe delays experienced in recent days. The improved flow is a notable development for regional trade and travel.
Queue Status at Key Checkpoints
No queues are present at any of the main crossing points into Poland. Specifically, the following checkpoints report zero vehicles waiting:
- Yahodyn
- Ustyluh
- Uhryniv
- Rava-Ruska
- Hrushiv
- Krakivets
- Shehyni
- Smilnytsia
- Nyzhankovychi
A similar situation is observed on the Slovak border: the checkpoints at Malyi Bereznyi, Uzhhorod, and Mali Selmentsi also have no queues.
Regarding the Hungarian border, a queue of 10 cars was registered at the Tisa checkpoint, while other points such as Dzvinkove, Kosyno, Luzhanka, Vylok, and Velyka Palad report no waiting traffic. The Romanian border is also clear: the checkpoints at Diakove, Solotvyno, Porubne, Krasnoilsk, and Diakivtsi have no vehicles in line. The Moldovan border remains stable as well, with no queues at the Mamalyha, Kelmentsi, Rososhany, and Sokiryany crossings.
It is noteworthy that despite Polish border workers initiating a strike on January 23, queues at many checkpoints remained absent as of January 25.
The overall situation at Ukraine's borders indicates improved conditions for transit, which may be linked to the optimization of customs services and reduced pressure on checkpoints. The absence of queues on most major routes could facilitate stronger trade links and reduce delays in passenger transport. These changes may also have a positive impact on the economic situation in the region, offering a respite from the logistical challenges that have previously hampered cross-border movement.
