Budanov on Oreshnik in Belarus: the main goal is psychological pressure.
According to ТСН: After the statements of the Belarusian regime about receiving the missile system 'Oreshnik', the Ukrainian intelligence understood the true goals of these maneuvers.
Real intentions of the Belarusian regime
The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov explained in an interview that this does not mean preparation for immediate use of weapons, but is part of a political game.
“These are demonstrative actions. The leadership of Belarus and the Russian Federation is doing this as demonstratively as possible,” emphasized Kyrylo Budanov.
He also noted that the publicity and pathos with which this information is presented are important indicators of the enemy's intentions.
Psychological effect of 'Oreshnik'
Responding to a question about whom this weapon is aimed at, Budanov explained that the main function of 'Oreshnik' in this case is psychological. The Kremlin and Minsk are trying to influence Ukraine's Western partners and Ukraine itself through fear.
“This is a means of nuclear deterrence, that's exactly what it's called. Deterrence — that's the key phrase,” noted the head of the GUR.
When asked by a journalist whether it was about intimidation, Budanov confirmed:
“Of course.”
Strengthening Russia's military potential
According to intelligence information, Russia is ramping up production of the ballistic missile 'Oreshnik', which is part of its strategy to strengthen military potential.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky also revealed details of the placement of 'Oreshnik' in Belarus.
This situation highlights the growing tension in the region and the enemy's attempts to influence the security situation in Ukraine and beyond. It is important to be vigilant and monitor the developments, as such maneuvers can have serious consequences for regional stability. The Ukrainian authorities, in turn, continue to work on strengthening the country's defense capability in the face of new challenges.
