Can residents of occupied territories avoid punishment for having a Russian passport? Explanation from the Ministry of Justice.
The Ministry of Justice reports that individuals who avoid cruel treatment by obtaining a Russian passport in temporarily occupied territories will not be punished. They will receive full legal protection in court if there is evidence of psychological coercion.
The situation where a person is deprived of the possibility of choice is a practice of the Russian occupying authorities, who use this method to control a person's behavior by creating fear and restrictions. One example is the forced passportization in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
It is also emphasized that forced passportization is illegal and violates international law. In Ukraine and worldwide, such documents are not recognized, except in occupied territories.
Citizens who have not received a Russian passport are deprived of medical care
Russian occupiers are once again using a new method to force Ukrainians to obtain a Russian passport. Starting from September 1, in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, citizens are denied medical care if they do not have a Russian passport and Russian health insurance.
