Cigarettes in Ukraine may rise in price record high: will have to pay 40 hryvnias more.
The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada supported the law on increasing excise tax on tobacco products
On Wednesday, November 27, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy supported bill No. 11090, which proposes a gradual increase in excise tax rates on tobacco products.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this.
According to him, 18 people voted for this bill, 1 abstained.
Zheleznyak noted that the document establishes a gradual increase in excise tax rates on tobacco products considering the minimum level defined by Directive 2011/64/EU. At the same time, he clarified that the excise on cigarettes is tied to the euro, not the hryvnia. In fact, starting next year, cigarettes will cost 40 hryvnias more.
According to the MP, next year the increase in the excise tax on tobacco products will bring over 20 billion hryvnias to the state.
Earlier, Ukrainians were warned about 'holiday' price increases on products.
