Starting from the last one and a half months, the prices for chicken eggs have significantly increased in Ukraine, causing concern among the population. It is currently impossible to predict price stabilization.

Maxim Kaminsky, the head of the purchasing department at the Varus supermarket chain, explained that the purchasing cost of eggs from Ukrainian producers has risen by 50%, forcing an increase in prices for end consumers.

'The trend of rising prices continues: just in the last week, prices have increased by 15%,' Kaminsky reported.

The main reason is the increase in exports of eggs to more profitable countries where they were sold at a higher price. This led to a shortage of eggs in the domestic market and further price hikes.

This sharp rise in prices is already affecting demand. Egg sales have dropped by 10% due to their high cost. If this continues, a further decrease in demand is expected.

Price stabilization for eggs and bread is uncertain

The lack of clear forecasts regarding price stabilization gives rise to two possible scenarios. Prices may decrease by 5-10 hryvnias by the end of November, or they may continue to rise to 80 hryvnias by the end of the year.

By November, bread prices may rise by 10-15%, according to Yuri Duchenko, head of the 'Kyiv Bread' company. This is due to the increase in the cost of essential production components.

'If bread prices do not rise by 10-15%, producers will be forced to reduce production volumes,' Duchenko warned.

It is expected that the costs of flour, packaging, logistics, gas, and electricity will rise by the end of the year.

Thus, Ukrainians need to be prepared for further price increases for chicken eggs and bread.
