Pork Prices in Ukraine Are Soaring: Main Reasons for the Sharp Increase.
According to inkorr.com: According to information from Oleksandra Bondarska, head of the analytical department of the Association 'Pork Producers of Ukraine', prices for pork in Ukraine in 2025 are rising compared to last year. The main reason for this is a decrease in meat production in the domestic market. In the first seven months of the current year, pork production has decreased by 14-15% compared to the same period last year.
Pork Market Trends
In 2025, the number of pigs in Ukraine reached a record low level – less than 2.9 million heads. This also affects the increase in meat prices. Although pork imports have noticeably increased, their impact on the market remains insignificant due to limited volumes. Additionally, climatic conditions have influenced price formation, leading to a decrease in meat quality and overall production volume.
'Since there is currently no sharp increase in production by operators, supply is likely to remain weak in the fall, although it will be slightly higher than in the summer. This is likely to restrain the expected decrease in pork prices in the market,' emphasized the analyst.
Conclusions and Forecasts
The analysis showed that meat prices in Ukraine in 2025 rose due to reduced production by domestic enterprises and an insufficient number of female pigs. Pork imports affect prices, although they are not yet a significant factor, along with a decrease in the number of pigs due to various factors, including climatic conditions.
Experts predict that the situation in the pork market will remain stable unless there are significant changes in production or imports. Further price fluctuations may depend on seasonal factors and the overall economic situation in the country, so monitoring the market remains important for consumers and producers.
