According to Novyny.live: Vegetable prices at the Privoz market in Odesa have remained stable since the start of the year. Despite a noticeable drop in consumer demand, trading activity continues. Vendors report that while purchase volumes are down, the market is still functioning and offers a wide variety of produce. Privoz is one of Ukraine's oldest and largest markets, making it a key indicator for regional food prices.
Current Price List for Key Vegetables
As of now, prices for staple vegetables at the market are as follows:
- Potatoes — 30 UAH per kilogram
- White cabbage — 35 UAH per kg
- Chinese cabbage — 40 UAH per kg
- Onions — 30-35 UAH per kilogram
- Beetroot — 25-35 UAH per kg
- Cucumbers from Turkey — 220 UAH per kg
- Cucumbers from Uman — 240 UAH per kg
- Cherry tomatoes — 240 UAH per kg
- Vine tomatoes — 230 UAH per kg
Price Trends in 2026
For context, the nationwide average price for red tomatoes in Ukraine was 158.19 UAH per kilogram in February 2026. This represents an 11.91% increase from February 2025, when a kilogram cost 107.64 UAH. Meanwhile, the average price for potatoes in supermarkets currently ranges from 19.20 to 20.25 UAH per kg. In February of this year, the potato price rose to 7-14 UAH per kilogram, marking a 17% increase from the previous week.
“We haven't raised prices yet. People are asking, comparing, but they are still buying. We see that they are buying less than before, but the market is alive. The important thing is that the goods are available,” shared Oksana, a vendor at the market.
Therefore, despite the reduced demand, vegetable prices have held firm and the market continues to operate.
The situation at Odesa's vegetable market demonstrates the resilience of local traders in the face of shifting consumer demand. Stable prices may indicate suppliers' confidence in their products and their ability to adapt to changes in the economic environment. Even with lower demand, the market remains a vital source for supplying the population with fresh vegetables.
