Ukraine lacks a coherent concept for combating Shaheds: expert identifies the main problem

According to ТСН: Over the past year, Ukraine has significantly intensified its efforts in combating kamikaze drones; however, the threat of large-scale attacks still remains.

Problems in countering drones

Aviation expert Kostiantyn Kryvolap explained in the program '24 Kanal' why the existing methods for combating 'Shaheds' are insufficient.

According to him, the main problem lies not only in the inadequate number of means to defeat them but also in the absence of a unified strategy to counter 'Shaheds'.

'When they start to come at the target one after another, our mobile fire groups and other means of defeat cannot handle these threats. And we suffer serious damage. We lack interceptor drones to effectively destroy them when they pass over LBZ and immediately after it,' Kryvolap noted.

Changes in air defense effectiveness

Earlier, the expert noted that at the initial stage of the application of 'Shaheds', the Ukrainian air defense showed high results, destroying up to 85% of the targets. However, the situation has changed now. Russia has significantly improved its strike drones of the 'Shahed' type, and Ukraine has not yet managed to develop a coherent concept for combating this threat.

The situation with kamikaze drones demonstrates how important it is to improve air defense and adapt to new challenges. Experts emphasize the need for joint efforts and the development of new strategies to ensure the country's security in the face of modern military threats.
