Fuel shortages and gas station restrictions in Russia triggered by Ukrainian strikes, says Zelensky.
Russia faces fuel crisis
According to Novyny.live: According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, attacks on Russian oil refineries have caused significant fuel shortages within the country. These strikes are inflicting serious damage on Russia’s economy, particularly by sharply reducing federal budget revenues.
“Russia is already experiencing a fuel shortage, and federal budget revenues are dropping significantly,”the president stated.
In response to these developments, Russian authorities have imposed strict limits on fuel sales at gas stations. Citizens are being denied the ability to purchase gasoline in canisters, highlighting severe supply disruptions. Zelensky described Ukraine’s actions as a “fair response to Russian strikes.”
“Our long-range sanctions are hitting Russian oil facilities very effectively,”he emphasized.
It is worth recalling that on June 18, a nighttime attack on Moscow took place as part of Ukraine’s broader retaliatory measures against Russian aggression. Zelensky also noted that strikes on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra constitute crimes against humanity, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Ukraine continues to respond to Russian attacks, and this strategy is visibly impacting the aggressor’s resources.
The growing fuel shortage in Russia could have far-reaching consequences for the country’s economy, as oil remains a primary source of federal budget income. Restrictions on fuel sales may lead to social unrest among the population, further complicating the domestic situation. At the same time, the strikes on refineries and Ukraine’s corresponding sanctions demonstrate Kyiv’s adaptation to the evolving conflict and its determination to undermine the aggressor’s resources.
