Flight Situation

Airport staff had to revert to manual check-in and boarding procedures, causing significant delays and cancellations.

“This has a major impact on flight schedules and will unfortunately lead to delays and cancellations,” the operating company stated in a message on its website.

As of the time of the attack, at least 10 flights had been canceled from Brussels Airport, and another 17 flights were delayed by more than an hour.

Passengers planning to travel today are advised to arrive early to avoid delays during check-in.

Authorities strongly recommend arriving two hours before flights within the Schengen zone and three hours for flights outside the zone.

Heathrow Airport, the largest in Europe, also warned of delays due to a “technical issue” with a third-party supplier.

“Collins Aerospace, which provides check-in and boarding systems to several airlines around the world, is experiencing a technical issue that may lead to delays for departing passengers,” a Heathrow spokesperson noted.

Berlin Airport also reported: “Due to a technical issue with a system supplier operating across Europe, there are longer wait times during check-in. We are working on a swift resolution.”

RTX, the parent company of Collins Aerospace, confirmed that it is aware of software cybersecurity issues.

“We are actively working on resolving the issue and restoring full functionality for our clients as soon as possible,” RTX stated.
