Russia Launches Devastating Assault on Ukraine

According to Espreso.tv: On July 2, 2026, Russia carried out one of its most intense strikes against Ukraine, deploying close to 500 attack drones and 77 missiles—25 of which were ballistic or hypersonic. The capital city, Kyiv, bore the brunt of the assault, with damage reported at over 20 locations. By 9:00 PM that same day, the death toll in Kyiv had climbed to 25, and approximately 100 people were injured, including children.

Fallout from the Attack

In Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, a section of a nine-story residential building was destroyed, and a humanitarian warehouse operated by the Ukrainian Red Cross was leveled, resulting in the loss of 320,000 units of cargo valued at over 79 million hryvnias. Fatalities from the attacks were also recorded in the following regions:

• Kyiv Oblast
• Sumy Oblast
• Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
• Zaporizhzhia
• Cherkasy

Notably, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a 7-year-old girl was killed, and in Kherson, a 41-year-old man died from injuries sustained in the strikes.

Ukraine's air defense systems successfully neutralized 524 out of 570 detected aerial threats. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the situation, stating:

In response to the tragedy, Kyiv declared July 3rd a Day of Mourning.
