Dacia has introduced the most affordable electric vehicle: what is known about the new product.
According to Korrespondent.net: The company Dacia has unveiled a new electric concept car named Hipster, aimed at simplifying and reducing the cost of electric vehicles, reports Carscoops.
The length of the car is only 3 meters, the width is 1.55 meters, and the height is 1.54 meters, making it smaller than some Japanese kei cars. Only microcars like the Citroën Ami have even smaller dimensions.
Design and features
Despite its compact size, the Hipster accommodates four adult passengers. The trunk with a volume of 70 liters can be increased to 500 liters by folding the rear seats. The car's interior is equipped with a “You Clip” mounting system featuring 11 points for accessories such as holders and lamps. The owner's smartphone serves as a digital key, navigator, and multimedia system combined with a portable Bluetooth speaker. Behind the wheel, there is a digital dashboard and two airbags.
Dacia describes the car's design as 'a block on four wheels at the corners'. Externally, Hipster resembles a smaller version of the Jeep and Land Rover Defender, with straight lines, a vertical nose, and flat windows. The body is painted in one color with three bright elements, and the protective panels are made of recycled Starkle material. To save costs, straps are used instead of door handles, the rear lights are integrated into the glass, and the windows are sliding.

Environmental friendliness and affordability
The car weighs just 800 kg, which is about 20% less than the Dacia Spring. This allows for a nearly twofold reduction in the carbon footprint compared to conventional electric cars, as less material and energy are required for production. Although Dacia does not disclose the battery capacity and engine power, it is known that the Hipster was developed considering the real needs of drivers. The company's research showed that 94% of French people drive less than 40 km per day, so the car has a range of approximately 90-100 km, allowing it to be charged only twice a week.
Although this is still just a concept, Dacia plans to launch the model into mass production. It is expected to be cheaper than the current Dacia Spring electric vehicle, which costs just under €17,000 (about $18,400) in Germany and around £15,000 ($18,900) in the UK. From 2010 to 2024, the average price of a new car in Europe has increased by 77%, significantly outpacing income growth. The Hipster aims to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider audience.
Recall that it was previously reported that Dacia transformed the Duster into a pickup and van.

The Dacia Hipster concept demonstrates a new approach to electric vehicle development, combining affordability and environmental sustainability. Given the growing interest in electric transport, this project could become an important step toward greater popularity of electric vehicles among Ukrainians and Europeans. The success of the Dacia model line could encourage other companies to develop affordable technologies that meet modern ecological challenges.
