28-year-old Kane Watson died after being buried while playing with his children on the beach, after which his family miraculously attempted to free him. The incident occurred at Muriwai Beach, 40 km northwest of Auckland, New Zealand. Kane was digging a hole when it suddenly collapsed without warning.
According to The Sun: Witnesses heard the desperate screams of his children, who unsuccessfully tried to dig their dad out of the sand. Emergency services arrived at the scene, and Kane had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he died from his injuries.
