Former official of the Ministry of Defense charged: damages amounting to 322 million hryvnias.
According to inkorr.com: The State Bureau of Investigations has announced charges against the former head of the Department of State Procurement and Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense. It has been established that during the state of martial law, he caused damages amounting to 322 million hryvnias due to excessive payments made under contract agreements.
Case Details
'The investigation established that during the state of martial law, the official made excessive payments in connection with the conclusion and execution of two contracts for the supply of water for defense needs to multiple companies. As a result, the Ministry of Defense suffered damages exceeding 322 million UAH,' - reported the SBI.
According to available information, the former employee of the Defense Procurement Department has been charged with negligent performance of military service, which falls under Article 425, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under this article, he faces up to 8 years of imprisonment. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
It is important to detect and stop such violations, as they lead not only to financial losses for defense but may also pose a threat to the country's security as a whole.
