Completion of the preliminary investigation by the DBR
According to inkorr.com: The State Bureau of Investigations has completed the preliminary investigation regarding the former head of the military-medical commission of the Chernivtsi regional mobilization center and his accomplice, who received bribes for forging documents about unfitness for military service.
Bribery scheme
During the medical commission, the head of the commission offered men assistance in obtaining documents regarding unfitness for military service for a sum ranging from 5 to 10 thousand US dollars. He received the money through a middleman and personally handed over the prepared certificates.
'The scheme operated from February 2025 until it was interrupted in April when employees of the DBR detained the accomplice while receiving the second 'installment' from the client. The suspect had a prepared package of documents for the conscript with the signatures of the head of the commission,' the DBR reported.
Detention and judicial measures
The court chose a preventive measure for both suspects in the form of detention with the possibility of bail. All members of the military-medical commission of the Chernivtsi regional mobilization center were also replaced.
The middleman is accused of aiding and abetting in obtaining illegal benefits, while the former head of the commission is charged with official forgery. These articles provide for a punishment of up to 10 years of imprisonment. The indictment has been sent to court.
Prospects of punishment
Having completed the preliminary investigation, the DBR has identified crimes and established that the guilty parties may face significant punishment for their actions. The replacement of the composition of the military-medical commission is aimed at preventing similar cases in the future.
This case underscores the seriousness of the fight against corruption in Ukraine, especially in sensitive areas such as military registration. Now the court proceedings will determine the further fate of the suspects, and the results of the investigation may serve as an important lesson for others to avoid similar abuses in the future.
