Expert names the safest place in a high-rise during a missile strike: where to hide.

Russian occupiers continue to carry out ballistic strikes on cities in Ukraine. This raises the question of where it is safest to be during a missile attack. Even in a high-rise building, there is a possibility of salvation if you can reach a bomb shelter.

During the broadcast of 'Kyiv Time', public administration expert in urban planning Viktor Gleba talked about a special place in a high-rise building that can save your chance for rescue during an alarm.

The expert noted that Soviet buildings, despite the looting during construction, can sometimes protect residents from indirect missile hits. This applies to houses with stair-lift marches.

'In such buildings, there is a different structural scheme. Therefore, for example, on Vaclav Havel Street, such a building saved one of the residents who was in this core of rigidity. This rigidity core is right inside such buildings, and the stair-lift march did not collapse,' said Viktor Gleba.

However, the expert emphasized that no building can protect against a direct missile hit. 'For direct hits, neither laws nor standards apply. This is clearly stated. Therefore, if there is a direct hit, you will not be saved,' he added.

It was also reported that residents of a damaged house in the Sviatoshyn district are waiting for an expert commission, which is slowing down the process of receiving compensation and determining the fate of the high-rise itself. The head of the Sviatoshyn RDA reported that 440 applications for one-time compensation and 49 for housing rent have already been received, and soon the victims will receive reimbursement.

In the event of missile attacks, it is important to have a plan of action and know where to hide for maximum preservation of your life and the lives of your loved ones. Effective use of bomb shelters and knowledge of the features of building construction can save lives inside a high-rise during an alarm and military actions.
