Recently, sunbathers were shocked to discover a mass wash-up of dead rats on their favorite beach near a popular tourist spot in Italy. Witnesses shared videos of the deceased rodents that washed up on the eastern coast of Salerno in southern Italy after recent storms. The footage showed dead rats being brought to shore by waves in Torrione. Visitors, outraged by the situation, were forced to flee the beach to avoid contact with the waste. Parliament member from the Alliance of Greens and the Left, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, shared the video online on August 18 and stated that dozens of rat corpses invaded the Torrione beach in Salerno. The parliament member also urged local health authorities to urgently investigate the possible causes of the incident and remove the corpses that cannot remain on the beach. The context of Salerno witnessed a massive wash-up of dead rats on the beach after a storm, explaining the outcry that caused outrage among local residents and tourists, and raised concerns not only about urban aesthetics but also about hygiene and health.
