Some categories of pensioners will not receive an increase in March.
Ukrainian pensioners are actively discussing the indexation of their pension payments. According to lawyer Ivan Khomych, some categories of pensioners will remain without increases.
In particular, this concerns those whose pensions were appointed from January 1, 2025, as their pensions already take into account the current economic conditions. Also, pensioners who retired from 2021 to 2024 will not receive an increase.
According to the Pension Law of Ukraine, these pensions are considered 'modern'. Those pensioners who were appointed a pension in 2021 will receive only a minimal increase due to the peculiarities of calculation.
However, Ivan Khomych believes that the absence of recalculation of pensions appointed from 2021 to 2024 is discrimination. The Supreme Court has also recognized that this practice infringes on the rights of pensioners.
The lawyer cited an example where a pension that was appointed in 2021 for 5000 hryvnias should have increased by 47% over the years of indexation, to approximately 7500 hryvnias (not taking into account the indexation in 2025). Such a situation raises questions of justice and equality in the pension system.
Earlier, it was reported about the expected changes for Ukrainian pensioners after indexation.
