Some Ukrainians will have their pensions replaced by social assistance: what is the amount of payments.
In Ukraine, it has been determined that some pensioners may receive social assistance instead of a pension. This information was reported on the government portal.
Many Ukrainians are interested in who exactly can receive social assistance instead of a pension. Thus, retirement in Ukraine is possible at the age of 60, 63, or 65, depending on the insurance period. In 2024, this period ranges from 15 to 31 years.
If a person has less than 15 years of insurance, they will receive social assistance instead of a pension at the age of 65. The amount of this assistance is determined by two indicators: the difference between the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost the ability to work and the average monthly family income per person for the last six months. However, the maximum amount of such payment cannot exceed 100% of the subsistence minimum for able-bodied individuals.
To receive social assistance, pensioners need to contact the social protection authorities at their place of registration or residence and submit an application and the necessary documents, such as a passport, registration in the State Register of Individuals - Taxpayers, a certificate from the Pension Fund of Ukraine about insurance period, and a declaration of income and property status.
It should be remembered that the amount of social assistance is reviewed every six months depending on changes in property status and average monthly income. Therefore, pensioners need to make corresponding changes to their documents.
Currently, the Pension Fund of Ukraine has also explained that the period of education is not counted towards the insurance period.
