Soybean Prices in Ukraine Could Surge to 23,000 Hryvnias as Plantations Face Raw Material Shortage.
Soybean Market Overview
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian processing plants are currently grappling with a shortage of raw materials, a situation expected to drive soybean prices higher in June. Forecasts indicate that the cost per metric ton could climb to 23,000 hryvnias. This upward pressure stems from rising soybean meal costs, which are also rippling through the country's agricultural commodity markets.
Projected Soybean Price Range
Analysts predict that per-ton soybean prices will fluctuate between 22,700 and 23,000 hryvnias. This anticipated increase is directly linked to the ongoing raw material deficit at Ukrainian facilities. The scarcity is already impacting the market by elevating production expenses, which in turn pushes up the final prices for consumers.
Current Prices for Wheat, Corn, and Barley in Ukraine
As of May 28, the average price for wheat stood at 10,089 hryvnias per ton, reflecting a slight uptick from the 10,010 hryvnias recorded on May 20. In other crops, corn averages 10,579 hryvnias per ton, barley is at 8,967 hryvnias per ton, and rapeseed is valued at 10,147 hryvnias per ton.
Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing war with the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian government continues to support its agricultural sector. This assistance may help stabilize the market in the near future.
The soybean deficit in Ukraine has the potential to significantly disrupt production and pricing dynamics across the agricultural market, given that soy is a critical ingredient in numerous food products and animal feed. The rising cost of soybean meal may also prompt manufacturers to explore alternatives, potentially reshaping the structure of the agricultural sector.
Monitoring these trends is essential for understanding how Ukraine's agricultural industry will evolve amid the current economic climate.
