This piece of television history will be sold by the Fieldings auction house in Stourbridge, West Midlands, next Thursday, with an estimated price of 500-600 pounds. However, experts believe its value could rise to a thousand pounds.
“If you have a certain age in this country, you probably have childhood or youth memories associated with watching 'Only Fools And Horses.'”
Antique expert Will Farmer noted that this bar is one of three or four similar items used in the series. One of them, signed by David Jason, was sold for 3,800 pounds in 2012. This particular piece was acquired from BBC props by a supporting actor in 1992 and is now being sold by his son.
“It is so worthless that it becomes fantastic. The whole object evokes nostalgia, and nostalgia is an important part of its value.”
Will, 52, added: “If you own Del Boy's bar, it will be amazing. Why do you need a Georgian-style desk when you can have a plastic bar with cushions?”
This event attracts the attention of fans of the series and collectors who remember the bright moments from the show. Del Boy's cocktail bar is not only a piece of furniture but also a symbol of an era and the unique lifestyle of characters who left an indelible mark on British culture. Its auction gives fans a chance to acquire a piece of their favorite show.
