Deputies failed to rename Pervomaisk, Synelnykove, and Pavlohrad.
The Verkhovna Rada will consider renaming five localities
Today the Verkhovna Rada considered renaming five localities, which were separately put to a vote. The voting broadcast was conducted by MP Oleksii Honcharenko.
They couldn't rename Pervomaisk in the Mykolaiv Region. Olvia and Olviopol were proposed, but no resolution gained the necessary support.
They also couldn't rename Synelnykove in the Dnipropetrovsk Region. Rovnopol was proposed, but only 180 parliamentarians voted. Synelnykov - an imperial general.
Pavlohrad couldn't be renamed either. Matviiv was proposed.
Only the renaming of Yuzhnoukrainsk and Yuzhne was successful - now it's Yuzhnoukrainsk and Yuzhne.
Remember, in September, the people's deputies renamed over 300 localities and districts, whose names were associated with the imperial and Soviet past, on the second attempt. From the resolution, the change of name for Pavlohrad, Synelnykove, Yuzhne, Yuzhnoukrainsk, and Pervomaisk was excluded. These localities were decided to be renamed by separate resolutions.
By the way, the number of local residents who are against the renaming of toponyms in Odesa exceeds those in favor by 1,603 votes. This is evidenced by the poll conducted by Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov on his Telegram channel. The Mayor of Odesa noted that not only local residents participated in the poll.
