16 Killed in Dnipro Missile Strike, Including Children: City in Mourning.
City Observes Day of Mourning After June 2 Russian Attack
According to Novyny.live: The city of Dnipro has declared a day of mourning following a Russian missile strike on a residential area in the early hours of June 2, which claimed 16 lives. Among the victims were two boys, aged 3 and 8. The attack deliberately targeted civilian homes, sparking outrage and profound grief among local residents.
According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, the death toll has been confirmed. Throughout the day, Russian forces launched additional strikes, with drones hitting residential buildings and igniting fires. These events underscore the ongoing threat to civilians in the region.
Oleksandr Ganzha, a local official, stated: 'They were simply sleeping in their beds. And they never woke up because of the enemy missile strike. This is deliberate terror by Russians against innocent people. Against children. Against life. Eternal memory to all the fallen. Our heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones. We share your pain.'
Currently, Dnipro's network of protective shelters can accommodate just over one-third of the city's population. However, the risk of repeated attacks remains high. The situation has heightened anxiety among residents who yearn for peace and security.
This incident highlights the persistent danger faced by civilians in Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. Strikes on residential neighborhoods demonstrate how military operations frequently result in tragedies that claim innocent lives, including children. The events in Dnipro may prompt stronger security measures and a renewed focus on protecting civilians in regions vulnerable to attack.
