ZUS has unveiled details of the new financial support program "Active Parent", which will start on October 1, 2024. The program is aimed at assisting parents of children aged 12 to 35 months and offers three support options.

This is reported by "Khvilya", referring to information from the ZUS website.

Applications for participation in the program can be submitted exclusively online through the eZUS platform, the mZUS mobile application, the Emp@tia portal, or electronic banking. The first payments are expected in November-December 2024.

The new program partially replaces the existing "Family Custody Capital" and expands support opportunities, also covering the first child in the family. According to estimates, more than 570 thousand children in Poland will be able to benefit from the program.

Parents will be able to choose one of three support options:

  1. The first option is intended for families where both parents work and need professional childcare. In this case, the state provides up to 1500 zlotys per month (up to 1900 zlotys for children with disabilities) to pay for nursery services, a children's club, or an officially registered day caretaker. It is important that these funds are transferred directly to the establishment or caretaker, not to the parents.
  2. The second option, informally called "grandmother's allowance", also provides for a payment of up to 1500 zlotys per month (up to 1900 zlotys for children with disabilities). This option is available to families where the parents work, but childcare is provided by a close relative, such as a grandmother. This option allows supporting families who prefer family-based childcare.
  3. The third option is for parents who decide to personally care for the child at home. In this case, the state pays 500 zlotys per month for 24 months. This support starts from the moment the child turns one year old and continues until the child reaches 35 months of age.

ZUS emphasizes that the "Active Parent" program will allow parents to flexibly choose the most suitable support option, considering their needs and possibilities. This is a significant step towards improving financial support for young families in Poland.
