9500 convicts have joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Approximately 9.5 thousand people have joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, among whom are 100 women - this information was released by the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine on their Facebook page.
What is known about the convicts in the ranks of the Armed Forces
'Approximately 9.5 thousand convicts are carrying out tasks at the front, including on the front line. But not all of them are men. 100 women who have received sentences serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are usually involved in communication, logistics, and medical support units,'- it is stated in the message.
According to the State Penitentiary Service, 55% of former convicts currently at the front were imprisoned for property crimes. Another 11% were sentenced for drug-related offenses, 9% for bodily harm, 6% for traffic accidents involving casualties, and another 6% for murders.
It is also worth mentioning that citizens liable for military service who have received a suspended sentence for their crimes can be mobilized. In addition, about 30 thousand people are mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine every month, according to People’s Deputy Roman Kostenko.
