Discussion on Weakening Russia's Missile Capabilities

According to UATV: Oleh Posternak, a political strategist and head of the Center for Political Intelligence, has addressed the potential to degrade Russia's missile arsenal. He emphasized that strikes on production facilities and tighter control over the supply of foreign components could significantly undermine the aggressor nation's military strength. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also stressed the need to strip Russia of its ballistic advantage.

Posternak pointed out that some components in Russian ballistic missiles, particularly the Iskander system, originate from Japan. He called for stronger collaboration between Ukraine and Asian nations, as well as countries that supply Western parts to Russia through parallel exports.

“We need closed contracts and agreements to prevent critical equipment for Russia's ballistic program from reaching it. For instance, with Japan,” he stated.

The analyst also expressed confidence in Ukraine's ability to eliminate the production capacity of missile factories within Russia.

“Ukraine is capable of and will destroy production capacities and missile plants in Russia. And I believe this is not far off,” he said.
According to him, Ukrainian forces will initially focus on hitting oil depots and refineries. “Trust me, a broader range of Russian military production will follow,” the political strategist added.

The Importance of Supply Chain Control

Posternak further noted that Ukrainian drones can now reach targets beyond the Urals and even into Siberia. “Thanks to the skilled work of Ukrainian intelligence and Western data, we can act preemptively and proactively, disarming Russia and thus destroying its primary missile advantage, including in ballistic technologies,” he emphasized. On July 13, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces struck 15 vessels used by Russia to transport oil.

Combining strikes on production facilities with control over supply chains could substantially weaken Russia's missile potential, a crucial step toward bolstering Ukraine's security.

This discussion of destroying missile production and controlling component supplies highlights an intensifying strategic approach by Ukraine in its war with Russia. Interdicting critical elements and targeting key manufacturing hubs could sharply reduce the aggressor's military capabilities and improve Ukraine's chances of success in the conflict. These actions also demonstrate a strengthening of international security cooperation, which may influence future developments in the region.
