Donald Trump began his second term as President of the United States
The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, took the oath and began his second term in office as head of state. This took place during the inauguration ceremony in the Rotunda of the Capitol, despite the cold weather in Washington.
Trump took the oath alongside his wife and children. Vice President JD Vance also took the oath using a family Bible that belonged to his great-grandmother.
Among those present at the ceremony were former President Joe Biden with his wife Jill, Senators Chuck Schumer and Amy Klobuchar, Speaker Mike Johnson, and other high-ranking officials. Due to the limited capacity of the Rotunda, many VIP guests had to watch the ceremony in the Emancipation Hall via live video feed.
Notable business figures in attendance included Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The opening prayer was led by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York.
It is worth noting that earlier Trump and Biden met at the White House before the inauguration.
