Trump's Trusted Associates May Meet with Putin: Plans to End the War Progress.
Meeting of Trump Representatives with Putin
According to TSN.ua: Donald Trump's trusted associates, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, may visit Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin to promote a peace agreement regarding the war in Ukraine. The meeting could take place in January 2026, but final plans have not yet been confirmed. This visit would be an important step in negotiations that seek to find ways to peace in the region.
Plan to Cease Hostilities
The plan to cease hostilities, which the parties are working on, consists of 20 points and is already 90% complete. However, key discrepancies still exist, the most significant of which concern territorial issues. In particular, questions related to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, as well as the fate of the frozen assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation amounting to about 300 billion dollars, remain unresolved.
Donald Trump and European leaders are expected to participate in the World Economic Forum, which will be held in Davos at the end of January 2026. This event could serve as a platform to discuss further steps in the peace process, considering the current challenges and instability in the region.
This potential meeting between Trump's representatives and Putin underscores the importance of international dialogue in achieving peace in Ukraine.
The successful implementation of the ceasefire plan could be a critical step towards stabilizing the situation in the region, although existing discrepancies concerning territorial integrity and economic obligations remain serious obstacles. Trump's participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos could also provide additional opportunities for negotiations and discussions regarding the future of Ukraine and relations between the West and Russia.
