Russian Drones Enter Moldovan Airspace

According to TSN.ua: A Shahed-type drone violated Moldova's airspace, leading to temporary flight restrictions. The National Army's Air Operations Service detected the unauthorized drone crossing into the country from the Odesa region at 9:29 PM. The aircraft traveled from the Komarivka area in Odesa Oblast toward the village of Shypka.

During its flight, the drone was tracked over several settlements, including Dubăsari and Orhei. Following the detection, a 15-minute airspace restriction was put in place. Monitoring of the drone continued until 10:03 PM, when it disappeared near Clișova. Moldovan airspace was reopened at 10:18 PM.

Rising Regional Tensions

This incident occurred amid recent Russian drone attacks on Ukraine. On the night of March 30–31, Russian drones struck Odesa, hitting a nine-story residential building. Additionally, on March 17, drone debris with an active explosive charge was discovered near the village of Tudora. Drone surveillance remains ongoing as the threat from unmanned aerial vehicles persists.

This case highlights growing regional tensions, as Moldova finds itself at the crossroads of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The breach of the country's airspace underscores the potential risks not only to Ukrainian territories but also to neighboring states. With active hostilities continuing in Ukraine, Moldova may become a target for similar attacks, necessitating strengthened defense capabilities and enhanced airspace monitoring.
