The founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger, Pavel Durov, might have been seeking a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Baku a few days ago. This opinion was expressed by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

It is possible that Durov was seeking a meeting with Putin in Baku a few days ago. He was refused. Now in Russia there is hysteria that "the only reliable Russian messenger, Telegram, may come under Western control," Kovalenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, this is a failure for Moscow, for which everyone seasoned under Putin, from Vaino to Patrushev, is to blame.

Kovalenko noted that Telegram is the number one messenger in Ukraine and is in the first place in India with 300 million users. He also expressed the view that Telegram will soon become the leader in South and Latin America.

The arrest of Durov can be compared to the cracking of the "Enigma" by the British during World War II. Telegram is the only messenger actively used by the Russian army, - Kovalenko noted.

Kovalenko also reminded that Durov is accused of not cooperating with the French police in the fight against drug trafficking.

In the coming months, Russia may be accused of drug trafficking in Europe. Tough times await the General Staff's Main Directorate, as they are considered responsible for this line of espionage. Also, thanks to the Durov case, the Russian intelligence network in Europe may collapse, - Kovalenko suggested.

It should be noted that Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger, was detained by the French special services on Saturday evening. Durov was arrested when he arrived from Azerbaijan.

American billionaire and founder of the social network X Elon Musk sarcastically reacted to Durov's arrest, and Russians raised the alarm over this event.
