«A very heavy news from Dresden». The 'Renaissance' Foundation reported the death of a prominent Ukrainian woman.
The first director of the European Program of the International Renaissance Foundation - Irina Sokolenko has passed away. She died of aggressive leukemia. This was reported by the executive director of the foundation, Alexander Sushko. He also noted that thanks to Sokolenko's leadership, the foundation began its work on the Association Agreement and visa-free regime. Sushko emphasized that together with Sokolenko, they traveled through Ukraine and abroad, promoting the idea of a European Ukraine. Alexander Sushko expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
After this, Sushko published a photograph of Irina Sokolenko from her Facebook page and her quote about the need for Ukraine to join the European Union. The quote reads: "Ukraine must be in the EU for the freedom of movement of people, the service of the authorities to the people, and the development of trust in society."
Taras Ilya - another loss
I also want to remind that Taras Ilya, the son of the famous Ukrainian poets Valentyna Otroshchenko and Valeriy Ilya, died on the front line. He was also a poet and received the Oleksandr Honchar Prize for his poetry collection 'Roots of the Ocean'. He studied at Kyiv University and was a supporter of the Dynamo Kyiv football club.
