Former U.S. NATO Envoy Points to a Critical Weakness in Russia’s Military.
Concerns Grow Over Russian Military Logistics
According to Espreso.tv: In a recent interview, retired Lieutenant General Douglas Lute voiced serious concerns about vulnerabilities in Russia’s military logistics, which he says rely heavily on railway networks. This dependency, he warned, could become a decisive factor undermining the combat effectiveness of an already struggling Russian army.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Russian forces are losing nearly 1,300 troops for every square kilometer of territory they manage to seize. Since November of last year, the pace of Russian advances has slowed considerably, pointing to mounting difficulties on the battlefield.
Douglas Lute emphasized: 'Russian logistics is almost entirely dependent on the railway system.'
In his assessment, cutting off supply lines and depriving Russian troops of essential provisions could trigger a collapse of the occupying forces. With combat capability declining and supply risks growing, the situation for the Russian military is becoming increasingly dire.
What This Means for the Conflict’s Duration
The fragility of Russia’s military logistics could have serious implications for both the length and intensity of the war, as sustained supply is a cornerstone of military effectiveness. Slowing advances and heavy frontline losses suggest the Russian army may face new operational challenges, potentially forcing the Kremlin to rethink its broader strategy and tactics.
