Poland's Prime Minister Calls Zelensky a 'Russian Granny': Kyiv's Reaction.
Miller Calls Zelensky a 'Russian Granny'
According to inkorr.com: Poland's Prime Minister Leszek Miller characterized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a 'typical Russian granny' in an interview with Radio Zet. He noted that Zelensky is trying to activate NATO's response to the existing threat. Miller also sharply criticized Zelensky's comments on Poland's ability to protect its citizens in the event of an attack.
'This is a typical 'Russian granny'... A person who spreads Russian propaganda and claims that Poland is unable to defend itself is a 'Russian granny,' - said Miller.
In response, the Ukrainian embassy in Poland criticized Miller's words, calling them 'provocative and unacceptable.' It is worth noting that Ukraine was the first to offer Poland its support when Russian drones began to threaten Polish airspace. Some of these drones not only violated Ukraine's airspace but also Belarus', recording a minor number of downed aircraft. Some of them caused damage to both civilian and military objects.
Leszek Miller accused Zelensky of spreading Russian propaganda, while the Ukrainian embassy's response highlights the provocative nature of such statements. Poland received an offer of help from Ukraine in connection with the attacks of Russian drones.
This situation underscores the tension in relations between Ukraine and Poland amid the threat from Russia. The interaction between the two countries remains important in the context of collective security, and the criticism voiced by the Polish Prime Minister resonated in Ukrainian society. The further development of these events may affect cooperation between the neighboring states in the field of security.
