Ex-Kremlin political prisoner Stanislav Aseev resigns from the Armed Forces of Ukraine: the reason became known.
Writer and journalist Stanislav Aseev, who volunteered for the front in 2024, has decided to resign from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He shared this in a commentary for "Glavkom".
Aseev explained that his decision is related to the disbandment of the battalion in which he served due to losses. The surviving soldiers will be transferred to other units within the brigade where they served alongside the journalist.
The writer tried to remain in service, but his request was ignored. His application for transfer to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was ignored by the leadership. Therefore, he decided to use the law and resign from the Armed Forces due to his time in captivity.
After his resignation, Aseev will focus on public activities, particularly strengthening the work of his "Justice Initiative" foundation in the search for Russian war criminals. He also plans to finish writing a book about his service, which he began writing in the trenches.
Stanislav Aseev became a victim of "DNR" militants in 2017. He was detained and accused of espionage. He was held in a concentration camp for 28 months, witnessing torture. After his release, he published a book about his imprisonment.
