EU to impose tariffs on Russian oil: Hungary and Slovakia under sanctions.
The European Union plans to impose tariffs on the import of oil from Russia
According to inkorr.com: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the EU's intention to impose tariffs on the import of Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia. This information was stated during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly.
Trump is absolutely right. We are working on this
Von der Leyen emphasized that the European Union has already reduced gas supplies from Russia, rejected imports of Russian coal, and decreased oil supply volumes. However, oil imports from Russia are still ongoing.
She also noted that the European Union plans to introduce sanctions against ports that provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Russia, as well as set tariffs on Russian oil. The main goal is to eliminate the remnants of oil and gas that come from Russia to the EU.
According to plans, the European Union wants to stop oil imports from Russia by the end of the year, but this requires approval of new sanctions. It was also previously announced about the creation of a 'drone wall' on the borders with Russia.
Von der Leyen reiterated that the EU's goal is to reduce dependence on Russian energy resources by implementing new sanctions and regulations.
The introduction of new tariffs and sanctions on Russian oil indicates an increase in economic pressure on Moscow in the context of current geopolitical challenges. The European Union seeks to reduce its energy dependence on the aggressor country, and the implementation of these measures could significantly impact energy markets and relations between countries.
