Hungary banned entry for drone commander Madyar: Euro diplomats reacted sharply

Refusal of entry for Ukrainian military

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine accused the Hungarian leadership of too close cooperation with Moscow. The reason was the entry ban for the commander of the drone forces, Robert Brovda, known by the call sign 'Madyar'. This situation sparked a strong reaction both in Ukraine and among European diplomats.

Ukraine's reaction to Hungary's actions

The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, stated that Budapest violates the rights of the Hungarian national minority by banning Brovda's entry, who has Hungarian origins. The government in Kyiv also reacted strongly, summoning the Hungarian ambassador to deliver a note of protest. Sybiha emphasized that Budapest's policy hinders Ukraine's movement towards the EU.

'Official Budapest, flirtering with the aggressor, has reached threats and violations of the rights of representatives of the Hungarian national minority. The reasons for blocking Ukraine's path to the EU are now completely obvious,' noted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Experts point out that the Hungarian authorities usually blame Ukraine for all problems, including violations of the rights of the Hungarian population in Ukraine, although in reality, it is Budapest that violates these rights.

'It is indeed very strange why official Budapest is moving away from all those narratives we have heard, that is, the rhetoric of really protecting the rights of the Hungarian population... This is the same technology that Russia constantly says, that they protect the rights of Russian speakers in Ukraine,' noted political science candidate Stanislav Zhelyhovsky.

Reasons for the entry ban

The official reason for Brovda's entry ban is stated to be the strikes of Ukrainian drones on the Druzhba oil pipeline, management of which is directly conducted by these military forces. This pipeline is the last route through which Russian oil reaches Hungary and Slovakia.

'Everyone who attacks our energy security or our sovereignty should expect consequences... Therefore, we are banning the entry of the commander of the Ukrainian military unit that carried out this serious attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline into Hungary and the Schengen zone,' emphasized Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

Brovda's reaction and international support

Robert Brovda, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, sharply reacted to this ban, stating that the Hungarian authorities care not about the sovereignty of the state, but about their own interests. He emphasized that the financial benefits of Hungarian officials from the supply of banned goods put them in a collaborative position.

'As for the populism around the mentioned threats to Hungary's sovereignty... Your limbs are elbow-deep in Ukrainian blood. And we will remember this,' stated Robert 'Madyar' Brovda.

Several European countries, including Poland and Lithuania, have already expressed their readiness to support Brovda, inviting him to visit their territories.

'While Russian missiles sow death in Kyiv, Hungary bans the entry of a brave ethnic Hungarian who dared to fight for Ukraine's freedom. Commander Madyar, be our guest in Poland,' wrote Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski on social media.

'Hungary's decision to ban the entry of a defender of Ukraine... is a disgraceful act. The doors of Lithuania will always be open to you,' noted Kęstutis Budrys.

Words of the President of Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, also commented on this situation, noting that Hungarian officials discriminate against the Hungarian community in Ukraine due to its participation in defending the state.

'Unfortunately, there is still no fair reaction from Hungary to such behavior of Russia,' emphasized Zelensky.

The world community is actively watching these events, and many countries express their readiness to support the Ukrainian military, emphasizing their solidarity with Ukraine in this difficult situation. This once again underscores the importance of international support in times of crisis.
