Euro sold for the first time at 50 hryvnias: which banks established the new rate.
According to ТСН: Several Ukrainian banks have updated their currency rates, and now sell euros for 50 UAH — this is a new psychological mark.
Among the banks that have already set such euro rates are ‘PUMB’, ‘Abank’, ‘Crystalbank’, ‘Metabank’, ‘TAScombank’, ‘BTA Bank’ and ‘Ukrainian Bank for Reconstruction and Development’. Other financial market participants are gradually approaching the mark of 50 UAH per euro.
Exchange rates and market fluctuations
The National Bank of Ukraine has recorded a slight strengthening of the hryvnia: the official dollar rate decreased by 8 kopecks, and the euro — by 1 kopeck. The dollar is set at 42.19 UAH, and the euro — 49.46 UAH. For comparison, on December 12, these figures were 42.27 UAH and 49.51 UAH respectively.
On the cash “black” market, the dollar traded in the range of 42.28 – 42.4 UAH, while the euro — from 49.66 to 49.85 UAH.
Rates in banks
In bank cash desks, the average rates look as follows: the US dollar was bought and sold in the range of 42 – 42.45 UAH (unchanged compared to December 12), while euros — 49.27–49.91 UAH (against 49.3 – 49.8 UAH earlier).
- In ‘PrivatBank’: dollar – 41.75 – 42.37 UAH; euro – 48.9 – 49.9 UAH.
- In ‘Oschadbank’: dollar – 42.1 – 42.55 UAH; euro – 49.2 – 49.9 UAH.
- In ‘UkrSibbank’: dollar – 41.95 – 42.5 UAH; euro – 49.05 – 49.95 UAH.
- In ‘PUMB’: dollar – 42.10 – 42.7 UAH; euro – 49.30 – 50 UAH.
- In ‘Raiffeisen Bank’: dollar – 42.04 – 42.37 UAH; euro – 49.1 – 49.84 UAH.
Let us remind you that last week the official euro rate to the hryvnia reached a historically record level — 49.51 UAH. Banker Taras Lesovyi explained that the reasons for the sharp increase lie in the global conjuncture: the official rate of the European Central Bank has risen from 1.03 to 1.17 dollars per euro since the beginning of the year. An additional factor is the increased demand for euros from Ukrainian businesses and importers.
These changes in currency rates indicate activity and dynamics in the Ukrainian currency market. The new euro rates may affect the business plans of importers and entrepreneurs, as fluctuations in exchange rates directly reflect on the cost of goods and services in Ukraine. Further changes in rates may depend on macroeconomic indicators and global economic trends.
