EU Commissioner Declares No Peace in Russia's War: Bloc Must Boost Air Defenses by 400%.
Andrius Kubilius Sounds the Alarm on European Security
According to UATV: Speaking at the Forum Europa, European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius made it clear that peace does not exist in Russia's war against Ukraine. He stressed that the European Union urgently needs to strengthen its defensive capabilities, calling for a 400% increase in air defense systems to counter potential threats from Moscow effectively.
Why Ukraine Is Central to Europe's Defense
Kubilius also highlighted Ukraine's critical role in Europe's security framework. He stated:
'We need Ukraine for our own defense. If Russia attacks us, EU member states will face a battle-hardened Russian army, far larger than what we saw in 2022.' Andrius KubiliusThis remark underscores the growing importance of cooperation with Ukraine, a country currently operating 10 million drones and sharing cutting-edge technologies and practical solutions with its international partners.
Bolstering the EU's defense capabilities while actively supporting Ukraine is seen as essential to countering escalating security challenges in the region. With Russia's ongoing aggression, collaboration between the EU and Ukraine has become even more critical for ensuring stability and safety across Europe. Kubilius's statements reflect a clear recognition that collective action is necessary to prevent further threats from Moscow.
