Zelensky named the mandatory condition for security guarantees: troops from Britain and France in Ukraine.
According to ТСН: President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the presence of European troops on Ukrainian territory is an important component of security guarantees, especially from France and Great Britain.
At a briefing, he noted that not all countries in the 'coalition of the willing' can send their troops to Ukraine, as this may be prohibited by their constitutions or require parliamentary ratification.
'The leading countries [in the coalition of the determined] are Britain and France. Their military presence is mandatory,' Zelensky emphasized.
The president also noted that there is currently no final text of the security guarantees agreement that would become part of the peace agreement. The format and scale of military presence have yet to be determined.
Moreover, Zelensky added that military personnel from European countries may be involved in:
- monitoring the ceasefire;
- supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine with weapons, technology, and intelligence;
- training missions.
They will be able to provide multilateral security guarantees on land, at sea, and in the air. The president emphasized that the military presence of the 'coalition of the willing' should start immediately after the ceasefire.
Zelensky assured that most details regarding the presence of European troops would be published, except for sensitive aspects related to intelligence operations.
As previously reported, Ukraine's European allies plan to hold a meeting in January to finalize their plans for security guarantees after the ceasefire, including the possible deployment of troops on the ground.
These events highlight the intensification of international support for Ukraine in the context of conflict. The presence of European troops could significantly strengthen security and stability in the region, expanding defense and security cooperation with Ukrainian partners. The issues of the format and scale of such assistance remain important and will continue to be discussed at the international level.
