Ukrainian Pharma Distributor BDM Rebuilds from Ruins, Creating 500 Jobs.
BDM's Infrastructure Rebuild
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian pharmaceutical distributor BDM is reconstructing its infrastructure and expanding warehouse capacity following significant damage from attacks by the russian federation. Despite losing 45% of its warehouse space in 2022-2023, the company plans to increase its total area to 120,000 square meters by 2025. This major reconstruction project is expected to generate approximately 500 new jobs across the country, representing a significant investment in Ukraine's wartime economy.
In 2022-2023, BDM suffered heavy losses due to the destruction of its logistics hubs, including facilities in Hostomel and Poltava. In 2025, its Pharmaceutical Warehouse Distribution Center in Dnipro, spanning 43,000 square meters, was completely destroyed. However, in 2023, the company made a strategic decision to increase its storage capacity, signaling a clear intent to resume and even intensify its operations.
New Facility Construction
A new automated warehouse in the Kyiv region is nearing completion and will create nearly 200 jobs. Construction of logistics centers is also underway in Vinnytsia and Poltava, which are planned to provide 100 and 85 positions respectively. Preparatory work has begun in the Odesa region for a facility that will employ around 50 people. Furthermore, a new warehouse is set to open in Ivano-Frankivsk in November 2025, offering nearly 100 new jobs.
Dmytro Babenko, a company representative, stated: 'We are investing not only in our own infrastructure, but first and foremost in the economic resilience of the Country.'
Through these actions, BDM is actively working to restore its capabilities. This effort will not only facilitate the expansion of its business but also support the Ukrainian labor market during a critical period.
BDM's infrastructure recovery symbolizes more than a return to normal operations; it is a vital step in the nation's economic rehabilitation. The creation of new jobs and the expansion of storage space demonstrate the company's confidence in the future and its readiness to invest in development despite economic instability. These efforts are also likely to have a positive ripple effect on adjacent industries, contributing to the broader recovery of the national economy.
