On the famous Iturup Island, located in the Far East of Russia, a group of ten tourists – nine women and one man – has gone missing. These people disappeared during a hike on the Baransky volcano, which is considered extremely dangerous on the island. The group did not inform the authorities of their route, although their guide Valery Fedosov from St. Petersburg thoroughly familiarized them with the safety rules. Communication with the tourists was lost on Saturday night, causing serious concern.'The group was clearly warned about the danger posed by the brown bear on the island, emphasizing the importance of noise, everyone's participation, and the necessity of having means to scare off bears.'Iturup Island is home to around 600 wild bears and is a point of contention between Russia and Japan. Fog and low visibility complicate the search efforts, and communication issues hinder the rescuers' actions.Local authorities have begun searching for the missing tourists and have also initiated a criminal investigation to determine violations of rules and examine suspicions regarding the guide's knowledge of the island.Among the missing tourists are doctors Yekaterina Kainova, Irina Tyulkina, Regina Belal, and Polina Podolyako. Efforts are being directed towards locating the group and ensuring their safety. The disappearance of the tourist group on the bear island has been registered as an extremely serious situation. The lack of communication and the dangers of the hike require swift and responsible actions from the authorities and rescuers.
