Flight cancellations due to drones at Munich airport

According to The Sun: Munich airport experienced chaos due to unknown drones that forced the closure of both runways. This left thousands of passengers in uncertainty, especially at the height of preparations for the last weekend of Oktoberfest.

German police reported that several drones were spotted flying near the terminal and over the runway at 9:30 PM.

As a result of the airport closure, hundreds of passengers were forced to stay overnight on foldable beds, receiving snacks and drinks from airport staff.

By 10:30 PM, all flights were halted, and 17 departures were canceled.

The federal police have not disclosed details about the drones yet, but a resumption of runway operations is planned for Friday, though the exact time is still unknown.

Unexpected obstacles during Oktoberfest

This situation occurred at a dramatic moment for the world-renowned Oktoberfest in Munich, which attracts millions of tourists every year.

This year, the festival has already encountered tense moments due to a bomb threat, as well as an incident involving an explosion in a building.

“Antifa means attack”

Authorities are considering a possible link to the radical left movement Antifa after a post with such a phrase appeared.

After the bomb threat, the opening of Oktoberfest was delayed while police searched the festival area for explosives.

Germany remains in a tense atmosphere due to drone activity. Recently, drones have been flying near power plants and hospitals.

“I will state very clearly that not every drone controlled by foreign powers is automatically a threat.”

These incidents are occurring against the backdrop of a wave of similar cases in NATO airspace, including airport closures in Denmark due to drones.

Many European leaders expressed concern during a meeting in Copenhagen that Russia may be involved in these acts.

“This is a pattern that needs to be observed... essentially, a hybrid war against Europe.”

In turn, EU leadership assured that attempts to test defenses will not go unpunished.
