Russia has concentrated strikes on Odesa region: why the enemy targets the economy of the region.
According to ТСН: The Odesa region has become one of the main targets for enemy shelling. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba during a meeting with journalists.
According to him, the shelling affects not only the ports but also all accompanying infrastructure facilities.
Where the enemy targets
The official noted that the strikes are distributed between logistical and energy facilities.
“I can tell you that in general what we see is that they are hitting logistics. Logistics is not only ports, it is also our railway. They are hitting energy, deliberately destroying our energy potential in the region,” Kuleba emphasized.
Will exports stop
Despite the intensity of the attacks, Ukraine continues to export products. The Deputy Prime Minister assured that the “grain corridor” is currently operational.
“As for our export potential, there are no threats at the moment. There are, let's say, quite serious risks that these shellings will continue and intensify,” the official warned.
Kuleba also noted that the government is constantly coordinating with the military to improve the protection of infrastructure facilities.
Why specifically Odesa region
According to Oleksii Kuleba, the shift of the “focus of the war” towards the south has a clear economic basis. The Kremlin seeks to strike at the Ukrainian budget.
“Odesa, Odesa region is a significant contribution to the economy and potential of our country. What this is related to, I think you understand: it is related to the fact that they want to disrupt our grain corridor, they want to undermine our economy,” the Deputy Prime Minister summed up.
The Odesa region is experiencing unprecedented pressure: in just the past week, over 500 shellings have been recorded using various types of weapons. According to Kuleba, bridges in the Odesa region have suffered more than 20 strikes per day.
The situation in the Odesa region remains critical as enemy attacks are aimed at destroying key elements of infrastructure. The Ukrainian government is doing everything possible to ensure uninterrupted exports, as this is vital for the country's economy. People in Odesa region need support and protection to survive this difficult period.
