Ford will replace the Focus with a new crossover: what is known about the successor model.
According to Korrespondent.net: The Ford company plans a significant reform of its strategy in Europe. The main element will be a new midsize crossover, which will appear on the market in 2027 and will replace the Focus model, as reported by Autocar. The vehicle will be produced in Spain, at the Valencia plant, with an annual capacity of 300,000 units. This model is expected to become one of the most popular in the brand's global lineup.
Technical features of the new crossover
The new model will not replace the Kuga; it will be presented as a separate model with "multi-energy" powertrains, including petrol-hybrid and fully electric versions. To reduce costs, the crossover will have approximately the same dimensions as the Kuga and will use shared components. The vehicle is planned to be based on the C2 platform, which has already been used for the current generation Focus, and will receive electric drive for the first time.
Restoration of Ford's positions in Europe
This new product will be an important step in restoring Ford's position in Europe. After halting Focus production in 2023 and the planned closure of the Saarlouis plant, where the Focus was made, the average price of Ford models in Europe has risen to a record level. The production of a more affordable crossover should help the company return to competitive sales volumes and reduce average emissions. It is anticipated that the starting price of the new product will be significantly lower than £40,000, which is the cost of the electric Explorer and Capri models, and will be approximately less than the new Puma Gen-E (£26,000).
Focus on hybrid technologies
Ford's CEO Bill Ford noted that the rapid shift to full electrification has turned out to be premature, as the demand for electric vehicles in Europe has proved to be lower than expected. Therefore, Ford is focusing on hybrid technologies, combining petrol engines with electric ones.
The official name of the new model has not yet been announced, but Ford does not rule out the possibility of reviving old badges such as Focus, Zephyr, or Granada.
Recall that it was previously announced that Ford was stopping Focus production.

Thus, Ford is taking important steps to adapt to the changing European market, focusing efforts on modern technologies and striving to ensure its competitiveness. It is important to observe how the new crossover will affect the brand's popularity among consumers and what other innovations the company will implement in its products.
