France evacuated diplomats from Iran: the reason cited a sharp escalation.
According to ТСН: France decided to evacuate its diplomatic personnel from Iran due to the worsening security situation, mass protests, and the use of force by the authorities. However, some embassy staff remained in Tehran to assist citizens.
According to sources, French diplomats left Iran over the weekend and Monday. Although the specific number of evacuees has not been announced, there are usually about 30 people working at the French embassy in Tehran.
Reorganization of the mission
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a 'reorganization of the mission to fulfill its duties under existing conditions' is underway. At the same time, the department emphasized that there has been no complete cessation of embassy operations.
“The ambassador and the critically important team remain in place to assist citizens who find themselves in Iran,” the French Foreign Ministry stated.
The evacuation of part of the personnel was decided due to a sharp increase in violence in the country and the worsening security situation.
Timelines for Americans and Swedish citizens
In this context, the U.S. State Department issued an urgent warning for American citizens, urging them to leave Iran immediately. The statement emphasized that the situation is uncontrollable, and evacuation should occur independently, without waiting for assistance from Washington.
The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also intensified travel recommendations to Iran, urging citizens to leave urgently due to a significant deterioration in the security situation.
Earlier, it was reported that the U.S. imposed strict trade restrictions against countries that have business ties with Iran.
Moreover, during protests that have been ongoing for the second week, more than 500 people have been killed, and over 10,000 individuals have been detained.
This situation in Iran has raised concerns among the international community, as evidenced by the actions of many countries regarding the evacuation of their citizens and diplomats. Tensions in the country are rising, and this could affect future political and economic relations in the region.
